The Assheton Arms at Downham.The pub is named after the Assheton family who have been the squires at Downham for well over 400 years.The Asshetons live at Downham Hall which came into their possession in 1558.Harrison Ainsworth in his novel 'The Pendle Witchess',features Downham and the Asshetons very prominently in his book.
