This photograph was taken around 1880. It's not one of my Great Granddad's, but I thought it was well worth putting on this site. The immediate thing that grabs you when looking at the photograph is just how rural Clitheroe looks. From a field where the Station Hotel is now to Waddington Road area, again just being a field. The bottom right are the pens for the then Clitheroe auction mart. The other building behind the station is the old gas works in its early days.
