The Vic in Clitheroe taken around the late 1940's,with some
kind of parade walking past.Orginally The Victoria was called The Joiners
Arms, then for a very short while became The Spread Eagle. After this the pub
became the Hare and Hounds and then became The Calfs Head for a long while
and then at last became The Victoria Hotel.A very little known fact about
the Vic is probably the most famous person to stay the night there is no other
than 'Sir' Bob Geldof.Back in 1977 the Boomtown Rats played their first ever
U.K.gig at the Lodestar at Ribchester. From the stage 'Sir' Bob gave Clitheroe
I right slagging calling it 'a right s*** hole'.Well the Boomtown Rats were
never that good.Anyway the band had to scrounge a lift off my friends Dad
back to Clitheroe!.....very punk.Out of all the gigs that happened in the
Ribble Valley by far the most amazing (as far as I'm concerned) is the Sex
Pistols. The Sex Pistols played in Ribchester at The Lodestar on the 15th September
1976.Now that would really be some old photographs I would like to see.
