Or more like an old photograph of the site of the old pub! This
photograph was taken in the 1930's,so even then this old ale house had not
served a pint for over 100 years. This photograph showing the old Waddington
Road site was taken for a reason, but why I don't know. The first recorded entry
of the inn was in 1686 with an invitation to Edward Parker read,'You are desired
to meet us and others, honest and true heated souls to drink a cup of Saplin
Ale.......at ten o'clock in the morning'.So a very early start that day.Unfortunately
the Dule upon the Dun was burned down back in 1828.Though even by then the
inn had stopped serving as an ale house.By 1789 the building had been converted
into two small cottages.
