The Laying of the Foundation Stone of Clitheroe Fire Station 1934

Fot 24 years the council wanted to find a plot of land to build a new fire station.At the time the present one was on Moor Lane and had existed there since around 1865 and before that at Castlegate.In 1933 the council decided on a plot of land on Princess Avenue.This photograph was taken on the 27th October 1934 of the laying of the foundation stone.In the centre is the then mayor Mr.Robert Manley.This building finally closed in 1987 as a fire station and moved just up the road.After 1987 the building has been used my Myerscough the vets.
