An old relation of mine,
Jimmy Clitheroe.I don't think any collection of old photographs of the town would be complete with out the Clitheroe Kid himself all 4' 3'' of him.Born in 1921 on then Wilkin Street which is now Highfield Road at his 'Grandma Pyes' house to his Mum Emma Pye/Clitheroe and Father Bob Clitheroe.Only days after being born the family moved to live in Blacko where
he grew up.Jimmy Clitheroe starred in many films,TV and radio programs.His radio series,'The Clitheroe Kid' ran for 15 years from 1957 to 1972.He starred in films with people such as George Formby and Vera Lyn.From 1963 to 1968 ABC Television filmed two series which he starred.This publicity shot was taken at the now demolished Co-operative Hall on King Lane.
