Proclamation of Edward VIII

A slightly worn photograph of the proclamation of Edward VIII in the market place in January 1936.It would be just another 325 days untill they would have to make another public proclamation for George VI.Edward VIII abdicated on the10th December 1936 because of his marriage to Mrs.Simpson .This photograph was taken for a press release of the time.

Back of the photograph reads 'Proclamation ceremony at Clitheroe the Mayor and Corporation at the library on Thursday morning.'
