Post Office at Waddington 1893

This was taken off another very early 10"x 8" glass negative. The Post Office and local shop are still there to this day, the only difference being the shop front is built out more. This is by far the earliest negative I have found to date. This photograph was taken in 1893. The old couple in the centre of the photograph are John and Hannah Dugdale taken on their Golden Wedding with their family around them. John Dugdale was the Post Master at the time and took over the Post Office in 1887. He was born back in 1819 at Waddington. John met his wife Hannah in Grindleton when he was haymaking one year, after this they moved to Bury for a time and then moved back to Waddington in 1848.
