Another photograph of the cup won at the time.Clitheroe use to play in a local league untill they joined the Lancashire Cobination in 1903.At that time Clitheroe were known as Clitheroe Central.So in joining the Lancashire Combination they changed their name to just Clitheroe Football Club.The first major trophy they won was the Lancashire Junior Cup in 1893.It took Clitheroe another 83 years to win it again at Deepdale (Preston North End) in 1985.The club won the League Championship in the 1979-80 season.In the 1982-83 season the Lancashire Combination amalgamated with the Cheshire Counties League.Because of the then state of Clitheroes ground,the club started in the third division.But under the guidance of then manager Eric Whalley they won the 3rd,2nd and 1st divisions in consecutive seasons.Maybe one of these days we will win the F.A. Vase.....
